Colt U.S. martially-marked SAA revolver, .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #56086. This gun is in overall very good to near fine condition showing approx. 35% original blue on barrelassembly and approx. 30% original case colors on the frame and hammer; matching serial numbers except the cylinder which is #137795; D.F.C. inspected frame and barrel, R.A.C. inspected cylinder, very good to fine bore,crisp action, sharp markings, very good wood grips that are R.A.C. marked on the bottom of the right grip and stamped “1st B 79” on the right grip. This gun is accompanied by a factory letter indicating the gun wasoriginally delivered to the Government Inspector at the Colt Plant on May 26, 1880 in a group of 150 guns with an interesting note that it was also returned to the factory for refurbishing with the barrel NOT BEINGSHORTENED and delivered again to the Government inspector at the Colt plant on October 23, 1895; a very nice martial Colt SAA that may be further researchable given the right grip stamping.
