Smith-Jennings First Model repeating rifle with ring trigger, automatic pill magazine, serial #16 on tang. Refer Fladerman, 5k-004. These .54 cal. rocketball guns were among the earliest American experiments in thedevelopment of the repeating rifle. The rifle remains in good to very good original condition showing a brown patina finish, some original finish mixed in; good engraving, good markings, generally good overall withvery good wood stock, showing about 80-90% varnish. The action is working and complete. A very significant American arm of which only approximately 500 were made in this model, and about 1,100 total.
