Italian Schiavona basket hilt broadsword circa 1660-1725, measuring 39-7/8" overall with 1-1/2" wide blade showing deep blood grooves that extend 27" down blade. The blade shows light old engraving which mayhave been an armorer's type mark. The grip is a very old replacement as the pommel nut shows a deep patina. The blade is well forged and shows light to heavy pitting; the hilt is nicely made and shows qualityforging.
