British Martini-Henry single shot falling block military issue rifle, in .5-77 cal., right side of frame marked VR with crown, Enfield, 1874 date, broad head and crown proof with large I and period stamped beneath the groove. The left side of the breech shows VR and IP proofs, also WD proof with full complement of British proof marks. The left side of the barrel beneath the sight shows the marking "N N E S P", which is handstamped and of the period, probably by arsenal or military. The right side of the butt stock shows an Enfield cartouche, also a re-issue cartouche that is illegible, 1884 date, and many small military stamps from aforeign state or British Province. The barrel and receiver show 75-85% toning original blue with some minor rust and erosion, the stocks show some dings, mars and scratches; a cleaning rod is retained. Theaction is good, bore is good with strong rifling, some minor pitting which may clean; stock shows a well done repair to the wood just behind the action, and a couple of areas of small fill.
