Sharps New Model carbine converted to .50-70 cal. by arsenal, serial #54008. The barrel shows 75-85% original blue evenly drifting and toning with some light erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The action,lock, butt plate and patchbox show 20-40% case hardening drifting to brown. The stocks are very good with a few storage mars and dings and 2 sharp cartouches E F and D F C. The markings are sharp, the action is crisp,the bore is near excellent. These early Indian War carbines are increasingly sought after due to increasing information as to their use by Texas Rangers, Buffalo Soldiers and cartridge cases found at battle sights in Wyoming and Montana.
