Remington New Model revolving rifle, .36 cal. percussion, nickel plated, checkered select wood stocks, serial #88, 1 of only approximately 1,000 produced. The rifle shows a 24" half-round/half-octagon barrel,with 3-line barrel address and left rear of trigger guard stamped 36 for caliber. The rifle shows 75-85% of a 19th century nickel finish which is peeling, and areas where nickel has lifted show some minor pitting and erosion. The stocks show a select wood grain, nice checkering, about 75% varnish and are at least very good. The rear sight is a well made old replacement. The action is good, the interior is good. The nickel wasprobably dealer applied and not factory in our opinion. Est.: $2,500-$5,000
