Winchester Model 1886 special order lever action rifle, .45-90 cal., 26" octagon barrel, half-magazine, shotgun butt with metal butt plate, blue finish, folding express type rear sight, serial #125456. The barrel shows 85-95% original blue that is dulling and toning naturally with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The barrel address and edges are sharp and crisp. The frame shows 75-85% original bluewith some minor scratches, slight drift to patina, losses at the high points and edges and beginning normal age. The forend cap shows 50-60% toning blue; the hammer and lever show strong traces of case hardeningwithin the patina. The butt plate shows 30-50% blue; the belly of the stock just behind the tang is stamped 93/238 in a military style. The action is tight, the bore is at least good and very dirty, lookslike it would clean substantially. Est.: $3,500-$7,000
