Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle, .38-40 cal., 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, retaining considerable original blue finish, serial #560767B. The metal surfaces show 30-50% original bluedrifting to a brown patina with some light spotting and erosion just starting, good barrel address, good crisp edges, good markings. A period enlarged buckhorn sight is in the original rear dovetail, and aperiod front sight in the front dovetail with badly bent blade. The stocks are good with some gouges, dings, mars, a couple of small losses and normal imperfections. There is a trace of case hardening on hammer and leverand 50% blue on loading gate. The action is good; the bore has seen a great deal of use and still fairly bright, but rifling is worn almost all the way to smooth from a lot of shooting. Est.: $900-$1,800
