LS, one page, lightly-lined, 7.75 x 4.25, October 27, 1860. Letter reads, in part: “Henry St. George…is hereby appointed to discharge the duties of Auditor of the Treasury for the Post Office Department during the absence of Thomas M. Tate.” In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, trimmed edges, and a punch hole to lower left corner.
