LS signed “H. Clay,” one page, 8 x 4, April 6, 1848. Brief letter to W. C. Carpenter. In full: “I have received your letter requesting my autograph, which I accordingly take pleasure in transmitting.” Double suede matted and framed to an overall size of 15.25 x 8.5. Clay’s cracked, but mostly intact red seal is affixed to the bottom of the letter. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, scattered toning and spotting, and a few small holes.
