Lot 354 The Romanov Dynasty: Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich

Member of the Romanov imperial dynasty (1891–1941), known for being involved in the murder of Grigori Rasputin. Though most of his family was killed, he escaped to London after the Bolsheviks took over. Rare embarkation card, one page, 6 x 4, no date. Embarkation card “for non- british subjects” is filled out in pencil by Dmitri, including his full name “Dimitri (Romanoff) Prince of Russia,” age “34,” occupation “none,” and address in the UK “Frogmore Cottage, Windsor,” and nationality “Russian Refugee.” Signed at the bottom in pencil “Dimitri Prince of Russia.” In fine condition, with expected light corner wear from handling and slight show-through from two black printed lines on reverse. Embarkation cards, also known as a departure cards, are used by immigration authorities as a means of passenger identification and record of entry and departure between countries.
