Lot 379 Watergate

Three souvenir TLSs, with two detailing the resignation of Acting Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, William D. Ruckelshaus, and Attorney General, Elliot Richardson, during the Watergate scandal, with the third being a three-page souvenir copy of the exact letter Archibald Cox wrote demanding access to the secret Watergate recordings. Each signed in ink at the conclusion by the respective official. In fine condition. Richardson and Ruckelshaus resigned after refusing to fire special prosecutor Archibald Cox as ordered by Nixon. This became known as the Saturday Night Massacre and was a turning point in shifting public opinion strongly against Nixon.
