^Lot 897 Warren ‘Baby’ Dodds

Jazz drummer (1898–1959) considered one of the best jazz drummers of the pre-big band era. Vintage fountain pen signature, “Warren Baby Dodds, 1386 Prospect Ave, Jil. 2-5589, c/o R. Gordon—New York, 59, Bronx,” on an off-white slip. Matted with the cover from the May 1946 issue of The Jazz Record, to an overall size of 14 x 11. In very good condition, with scattered soiling and some light ink notations under bottom portion of signature.
