Lot 475 Apollo 16

Flown swatch of parachute material from the Apollo 16 mission. Swatch measures 4.5 x 3.5, and is signed and inscribed in red ink, “To: Mac Covington, Apollo 16 parachute material. Best regards, John Kiker.” Accompanied by a letter from Kiker to Covington. Kiker was the Chief of the Mechanical Systems Branch at NASA. Letter reads, in part: “I am always glad you are interested in the space program…enclosed is a small piece of material from one of the Apollo 16 parachutes.” A small zip-lock bag is stapled to the letter. In fine condition, with scattered toning, foxing, and creasing to letter.
