Lot 30 John C. Fremont Engraving - Sacramento Valley
This is a fancifully bordered engraving of Fremont; explorer, military officer, and early pioneer in California who made a fortune when gold was discovered on his property. Engraved by T. Knight from a daguerreotype by Brady. Vignette titled "Encampment in the Sacramento Valley" beneath his image, paying tribute to his role in early California history. Probably dates from the 1860's - 1870's period. Clean and bright. [FR-6] It is matted and framed under glass, and measures 16 1/4" x 12 3/4" in its decorative frame.
