Both have vignette of allegorical woman holding globe flanked by refinery on right and oil wells on left, both in small ovals. 1). $1000, green. 2). $100,000, purple. Coupons attached. American Oil Corporation was founded in 1889 by John Rockefeller and first incorporated as Standard Oil of Indiana. Standard Oil Company opened its new refinery in Whiting, Indiana, in 1890 and the facility was ranked as the largest refinery in the world at that time. In 1985, Standard Oil Company of Indiana changed it's name to AMOCO. SCBNC. XF.
