Lot 181 Lee de Forest

Prolific American inventor (1873–1961) often referred to as ‘the father of radio’ for his pioneering work in wireless telegraphy. ALS, one page, 7 x 10, personal letterhead, November 11. DeForest postpones an engagement. In part: “I shall be compelled to again postpone acceptance of your kind invitation to the Scribis Club. My meager gasoline ration keeps me from going to town ‘for the duration,’ and I can not afford to travel by taxi. And street car or bus, is to me an abomination.” In fine condition, with some scattered light creases and a couple spots of trivial soiling.
