^Lot 443 George du Maurier

French-born British cartoonist and author (1834–1896), known for his cartoons in Punch and his novel Trilby. Original vintage signed sketches: an ink sketch of two knights lancing a giant, signed “Maurier,”; and a pencil sketch of a German soldier seated with another human-like figure, signed “Du Maurier,” both on a light blue 6.75 x 6.5 sheet. A single horizontal and vertical fold, mild toning to edges, missing lower left corner tip, and some mounting remnants to reverse edge, otherwise fine condition.
