Lot 291 Clark Gable & Carole Lombard Photo Collection
From the Lester Glassner Collection. This is an incredible lot of Clark Gable & Carole Lombard photos, slides, postcards, and clippings. The collection includes: (3) b&w negatives and corresponding prints featuring Mr. Gable; One b&w photo of Clark Gable in uniform during World War II (approx 4 1/2" x 7"); One b&w headshot featuring Clark without his trademark moustache (approx. 8"x10"); Eight miscellaneous photos of various sizes featuring Clark Gable publicity shots, a photo with a UPI white paper strip describing Mr. Gable's passing, and a small business card sized color photo of Clark Gable's Ranch home; a magazine article titled 'Gable from all angles'; two 5"x7" photos and an 8"x10" b&w still from his last feature 'The Misfits' (1961) also starring Marilyn Monroe; A young Mr. Gable without his moustache in a boxing pose; an 8"x10" photo of Clark and Carole Lomdard trout fishing; an 8"x10" b&w still of him in his military uniform surrounded by fellow soldiers dated 9-17-43; a 4"x5" b&w photo of Mr. Gable standing on a front lawn with an unidentified woman; and two 8" x 10" color prints of posters for the Clark Gable films 'Wife Versus Secretary' and 'Saratoga.' The Carole Lombard photos include: one 8"x10" b&w glamour shot of Ms. Lombard from Paramount Pictures, and two 8"x10" b&w stills from her movies 'In Name Only' and The Gay Bride.' A wonderful collection. Lester Glassner was a collector of Pop culture artifacts whose collection included movie posters, lobby cards, toys, and more than 250,000 movie stills.
