Lot 574 Braveheart-Style Sword
Deluxe broadsword made by the armorer who provided the exquisite swords for Mel Gibson's Braveheart (1995). This stunning item features a metal blade, leather handle, silver cross guard and exquisite silver pommel in classic style. It is made in the style of Scottish battle swords of centuries past, entirely hand-made. The sword was designed by Simon Atherton. Atherton and Brian Davenport, both London-based armorers, built the swords seen in the film. This style of sword is generally known as a "hand and half" broadsword. Includes a letter of provenance from Davenport dated 1995, which is attached to the sword via a small leather band. (50x12). Oversized item. Additional postage required.
