Colt Mdl 1849 Pocket Cal .31 SN:3175106" BBL and factory engraved and attributed to Gustav Young. Refer to "Colt Engraving" by R.L. Wilson page 164 for almost identical engraved pistol which is numbered 317503 and is only 7 numbers away. This Colt remains inoriginal good condition with a patina finish, some light to moderate pitting and normal aging and wear from use. The grips are good, markings are good, all matching serial numbers. The front sight is a period addition of copper blade, probably from a coin. A desirable and original early Colt.
