^Lot 54A Planet of the Apes Gorilla / Equestrian vest

From the classic 1968 Sci-Fi film Planet of the Apes, this is a Gorilla equestrian vest used by one of the mounted soldiers in the opening hunt sequence. This purple leather costume features a Western Costume Company tag with a production number of 2778-1 and a large handwritten "J. J." The rarely encountered equestrian version of the gorilla vest features snaps at the bottom back, whereas ordinary examples have no snaps and are ordinarly attached. An incredible find. Has some paint stains to the front. Only about a half dozen of the Equestrian vests were produced making this a true collector's item from a truly iconic film.
