Lot 12 An Egyptian Faience Ushabti
From ancient Egypt, 26-30th Dynasty, ca. 652 - 300 BC. Pale, off-white faience shabti, beautiful and very finely modeled modeled, standing on an integral plinth against a back pillar, holding agricultural implements, a seed bag over the left shoulder, wearing a striated tripartite wig and plaited chin beard, with ten lines of hieroglyphs. Although shades of blue and green are most identified with faience, it could be produced in a much wider array of hues, including white, yellow, red, and brown. 5"H, intact/excellent condition.
