^Lot 21 A Greek South Italian Terracotta Sphinx

Classic Period, Ca. 5th Century BC. A nice example of the mythological being associated with Hera, brought to Greece from Egypt, in profile with head turned center, animal body seated and with wings spread. 2-7/8? H. Good age wear and deposits; face abraded and losses to feet and wing. Still very rare.
