Lot 64 A Roman Glass Sprinkler Flask

Gorgeous color! Rome, ca. 3rd century AD. Green ancient glass vessel, known as a "sprinkler" (modern day name given to a flask of this type, as it was designed with an interior valve and a wide, flat opening that allowed for the contained liquid to sprinkle, rather than pour). Mold made from two separate halves, and the main body has a lattice-work type design. 3-1/4"H, repaired section with several internal stress cracks, else very good.

Provenance: Ex-private New York Collection.
