Lot 110 A Seljuk Bronze Reclining Lion / Feline
Central Asia, Seljuk Dynasty, ca. 800 - 1000 AD. Solid bronze lion in alert position with his head pointed forward, mouth slightly agape, forepaws outstretched in front of him, hindlegs tucked. A small ridge separates the mane from the back, but note the incised detailing of the mane! The tail rests on the lion?s buttocks. 2-1/4"L (5.7 cm)x 1-3/4"H, intact, surface slightly worn.
