Lot 175 An African Songye Wood Carved Figure

Congo (D.R.C.). mid 20th century. Wood, dark brown patina, on fragmentary legs supporting a square trunk, flanked by thin carved arms, with tubular neck and bearded head with incised eyes and rectangular protruding mouth, copper ring and nut attached, head with opening atop, cracks (head and body right hand side), damage and losses to legs. 13.75”H. very good condition with minor chips/losses.
