Lot 281 Dennis Hopper "Howard Payne" hero screen-used bomb device and remote detonator from Speed

(20th Century Fox, 1994) This bomb device was custom-made for the production and was used on-screen during the elevator shaft scene at the beginning of the film. The set of props were made of aluminum, and plastic, consisting of a panel that was mounted to the elevator wall with duct tape that was connected by wire to a hidden control box that allowed a stage hand to illuminate and control the red LED numbers on the panel. Also included is the hand held remote that Dennis Hopper, as Howard Payne, used on-screen to simulate control of the panel. Both units are still in working condition. The loose wires can be attached to a power source, though some type of battery holder would be required for permanent use. These props were one of a kind and screen match, making them a very rare artifact from the now classic film and one of the late Dennis Hopper's best on-screen characters.
