Lot 271 Original artist’s proof large Mickey Mouse standing figure
This life-sized statue was sold in the “Disney Gallery” at Disneyland and at the “Art of Disney” store in Disneyworld. This hollow, wooden carved figure stands a full 59 in. tall including a rolling 32 ½ in. round base. The figure is posed welcoming, hand extended in greeting. The shoes, pants buttons and face have been left unpainted but varnished to show the grain of the natural wood. Pants, body, nose, eyes, ears and mouth are all painted in vivid colors. This was ultimately a limited edition of 100 pieces, although this particular figure is marked at the left foot heel as being made “04/10” and “A/P” (artist’s proof).
