Lot 581 Original Watercolor background Painting from The Beach Picnic
(Walt Disney Studios, 1939) This original background painting was created during the production of the 1939 Donald Duck short, The Beach Picnic for the opening scene of the short. However, it does not appear in the film. A decision was apparently made during production to open with Donald manipulating an animated beach umbrella. The artwork is on a trimmed background sheet measuring 8 ½ in. x 11 in.
