Lot 71 James Madison and James Monroe
Partly-printed DS, signed “James Madison” as president and “Jas. Monroe” as secretary of state, one page, 15.5 x 10, October 7, 1811. President Madison grants Jean Batiste Pare 85 acres of land on the edge of Lake St. Claire in Michigan. Vertical folds, Madison‘s signature light, but legible, scattered wrinkling and toning, and foxing to left side, otherwise very good condition. The seal is toned and worn, but almost completely intact.
