American financier (1786–1844) and president of the Bank of the United States. ALS signed “N. Biddle Pres’t,” one page, 7.75 x 9.75, July 22, 1829. Brief letter to physician Thomas Cadwalader. In part: “As I shall be…absent on the business of the Bank. I hereby appoint you to act in my stead as President of the Bank of the United States.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, docketing notation to top right, blue pencil notation to top, uniform toning, and a bit of scattered light soiling.
