Lot 367 Philippe Petain

French general who was honored as a national hero for his defense of Verdun during World War I, but who was convicted after World War II of dealings with the enemy while head of the collaborationist Vichy regime. One of Petain’s personal calling cards, 4 x 2.25, signed on the front in black ink, “Ph. Petain 13-1-31.” In very good condition, with light overall toning with a heavier block of toning to center from tape remnant on reverse and a few bends.
