^Lot 657 William Primrose

Scottish violist (1904-1982) who played in the NBC Symphony Orchestra under Arturo Toscanini. In 1953, Queen Elizabeth II made him a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of Primrose posing with his viola, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To J. Willis Sayre, with best wishes from William Primrose.” In very good condition, with creasing in three corners, scattered soiling, and overall horizontal crazing to the emulsion.
