Collection of 21 letters, consisting of 10 ALSs, nine TLSs, and two greeting cards, each written to Archerd from a celebrity. ALSs are from Richard Chamberlain (2), Faye Dunaway, Dakota Fanning, Jose Ferrer, Mother Dolores Hart, Janet Leigh, Fess Parker, Gloria Stuart, and Shirley Temple; TLSs are from Fess Parker, Pearl Bailey, Binnie Barnes, Ralph Bellamy (2), Ed Wynn (2), Kirk Douglas, and Charlton Heston. Kirk Douglas writes, “Like millions of others we will miss your column in Variety. It was always fascinating, accurate and full of discretion. You are and will always be a mensch.” Shirley Temple writes, in part: “I am really disappointed that you were not at my big Academy night. It was a thrill to finally receive my big Oscar.” The greeting cards are signed by Mother Dolores Hart and Gloria Stuart. In fine overall condition.
