Lot 141 Nevada Northern Lantern NV - Ely,White Pine County - Railroadiana

Tall-Globe lantern, 9” tall, without bail, machine embossed “Handlan/ St. Louis/ U.S.A.” on the ventilator top, hand embossed “N.N.R.Y.” on the lid, and punched “58”. The standard clear glass 5 3/8” tall globe is etched “N.N.R.R.” and the first R is sloppily etched. Several small chips in upper rim, intact bottom rim. The bottom of the twist-in pot is machine embossed “Handlan / St. Louis/ Patented/ 41309 82310/ 122710 1212” and the screw on the burner is also marked “Handlan St. Louis Mo.”. The Handlan information on the lid and pot are machine-embossed, the N.N.R.Y. was obviously embossed by hand, and the NNRR etching on the globe does not correspond with Nevada Northern or any other known railroad of the area by that reporting mark or time period. The meaning of “58” punched into the lid is unclear. This lot includes Nevada Northern: Sagebrush Short Line, Gary G. Allen, 1964. - Jacobitz Collection
