Lot 496 Assay & Mint Documents CA - San Francisco,1892-1914 - General Americana
Lot of 6. Various documents and receipts from a variety of entities. 1) a receipt dated May 21, 1892 is from the Assay services of "Nevada Metallurgical Works" of No. 23 Stevenson Street, San Francisco. Enumerates Bullion chips and their net worth. 2) dated March 16, 1893 from the Office John Taylor & Co. Of San Francisco. It is to Mr. T.R. Hofer of the United States Mint in Carson City, NV. For an Agricultural Station warrant #1236 for $6.90. 3) dated July 2, 1884 is from the State Assay Office, Safe Deposit Building Room 16, S.E Corner California and Montgomery Streets, San Francisco." 4) Dated April 11, 1888 is from the "Gold Hill Assay Office, W.S. James, Proprietor," detailing a transfer to bank in California. 5) dated August 8, 1888 from "James J. Ott, Nevada City Assay and Refining Office, No. 30 Main Street." (James Ott was a cousin of John Sutter) There are 2 documents in this set, a blank receipt and an Assay receipt for "gold grains." 6) July 1914, is receipt No. 70 "Memorandum of Gold Bullion deposited at the Mint of the United States at San Francisco." "Amal Cakes California" for the amount of $200 dollars. These documents are in excellent condition, very legible, extremely rare.
