Lot 934 Humorous Print Ad OH - Akron,Summit County - General Americana
Cline, Seiberling & Company of Doylestown, Ohio was founded circa 1861 by Peter Cline, John F. Seiberling and John H. Hower. Their business being the manufacture of John Seiberling's invention of the Excelsior reaper and mower. Shortly after forming the partnership a portion of operations was moved to Akron. This is an ad for the company that uses humor to show how, even before Columbus arrived, the natives of the New World were advanced enough to use Seiberling's invention to raise food. This is a beautiful piece that almost appears to be on a very heavy stock of paper. It is framed and mounted and measures 13.5" x 17.5". It's in excellent condition and has a slight fold down the center. - Jacobitz Collection
