^Lot 1002 Homestake Ore Specimens SD - Lead, - - Mineral Specimens

Two specimens from the Homestake Mine, America`s most famous gold mine that produced more than 50 million ounces of gold. 1) large hand specimen approximately 6 x 6 x 2" of banded quartz schist containing pyrite and arsenopyrite from one of the lower working levels. 2) Native gold and quartz in breccia and schist. Specimens from the Homestake are rare. In 35 years here, the only specimens we`ve seen were removed by mine managers or geologists. The company also throughout its history kept its geology close to the vest, never allowing a single geologic map out to the public.
