Lot 1183 F.H. Phelps Bottles NV - Carson City,Nevada Bottles
Fred Phelps, a chemist at the Carson City Mint, was laid off and opened an apothecary store. These are two scarce bottles: 1) A 3.5" tall oval; 2) 5" tall, with monogram. "Phelps has two different clear drug bottles. Most have the Phelps "FHP" monogram at the left of the embossed panel. The oval bottles do not have the monogram. All are scarce because of his short time in business. There are less than 20 known, though the oval is the rarest of the two. Several have been found in and around Tuscarora" [Ref: Nevada History Through Glass, Vol. II, Fred Holabird, 2012]. - Jacobitz Collection
