Lot 1391 Zinc Ingot Box ID - Kellogg,Shoshone County - c1940 - Numismatic

Box measures 4” x 3.25.” and weighs 1.10 pounds. There are two engravings on the box, one is on the side that reads “Sullivan Mining Co. Bunker Electrolytic Zinc 99.99+%.” The other is on the lid and has an image of a prospector and a mule. The box has some and fading. Located in Kellogg, Idaho. The town was named after the prospector Noah Kellogg. Legend has it, that one morning Kellogg's mule wondered off away from camp. Kellogg later found the mule next to a giant piece of galena. Whether or not the story is true is up for debate; never the less, the Sullivan Mining Co. Began operation in the 1880s and was in operation till 1981.
