Rare Whitney-Remington Type II Rolling Block Shotgun, #84885, 20 ga., 32" tapering round barrel has shotgun-style bead front sight; rolling-breechblock receiver marked "Whitney Arms Co./Whitneyville, CT, U.S.A." at top tang, serial number below, with auto extraction. Oil-finished walnut forend/buttstock, carbine buttplate. Mfg'd 1881-88 in less than 1,000 qty. Condition is very good retaining approx. 85% thinning and toning barrel blue, silvering case colors, sharp edges and markings. Stocks are sound and smooth, there being a secure 4" hairline at left comb reinforced by two thru-rivets. Action is frozen, breechblock may have had a repair, clean bore shows overall light frosting. This shotgun is a very rare Whitney rolling block variation. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
