Hopkins & Allen "XL No. 8" Single Action Army Revolver, #105, .44-40 CF cal., 6.75" round barrel, fluted 6-shot cylinder, solid frame marked "Hopkins & Allen Mfg. Co./Pat. Mch 28, 71 May 27, 79" and "XL No. 8" on topstrap has left-hand release for sliding ejector rod, integral "saw-handle" straps with lanyard ring at butt, 2-pc. checkered hard rubber grips. Mfg'd late 1870s-early ?80s, in very small qty. Condition is good retaining traces of original finish else smooth gray gunmetal having occasional light erosion, sharp edges and markings. Grips are sound showing only light wear, tiny fleabite and .25" chip at left butt. Action does not hold cock, bore shows light erosion, fine rifling. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
