Lot 84 Colt Cavalry Single Action Army Revolver
Colt Cavalry Single Action Army Revolver, #91868, .45 Colt cal., 7.5" barrel, nickel finish, with cartouched walnut grips. John E. Greer Ordnance inspected, and DFC sub-inspected; also marked "DFC" on left side of butt. Revolver is additionally marked with a "G" beneath the serial number on the trigger guard and back strap. All visible matching numbers, including grips and bullseye ejector rod tab; no vent hole in axle. Three-line patent date, U.S. to left side of frame. Mfg'd 1883, listed as shipped June 8, 1883 in a 100-gun shipment, and is additionally noted in Colt Factory records as being shipped with a blue finish. (See copy of factory letter.) On Page 76 of "Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers", by Kopec and Fenn, this revolver is listed by serial number as a probable buyback and sold through trade channels. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 75%-80% thinning nickel. Grips are excellent with several very small chips at butt edge. Cartouches are very crisp and well defined, bore is excellent.
