Remington Rolling Block 3-Band Single-Shot Military Rifle, NVSN, .45-70 Gov't. CF cal., unmarked 35" round barrel has standard front and rear sights, 3.75" lug for sliding bayonet at right muzzle; large No. 1 receiver lacks auto-extractor, has maker's name, address, and 1864-66 patent dates at top tang. 29" oil-finished walnut forestock has steel nosecap, slotted-grooved ramrod, 3 spring-retained bands (middle with sling swivel), matching buttstock has curved buttplate, sling swivel at belly. Mfg'd ca. 1867-88. Condition is very good retaining what appears to be original nickel plating to nosecap, bands and swivels, else oxidized gray/brown gunmetal (receiver cleaned of light-moderate pitting). Stocks show wear, dings, and gouges associated with military use but are sound. Action is crisp, bore shows light-moderate etching, fine rifling. Est.: $500-$700. (Antique)
