Antique Percussion Sporting Rifle, Perhaps American Showing European Influence but Unmarked, NVSN, .42 cal., key-retained 34" octagonal barrel has dovetailed buckhorn sights, 2 brass pipes on full-length lower rib retaining the brass-tipped hickory ramrod; unmarked flat lockplate has sporting hammer, "drum" style nipple bolster; walnut halfstock has carved pistol-grip, fancy scrolled trigger guard, crescent buttplate, pewter nosecap. Condition is good, the barrel showing much reblued finish over light oxidation, else smooth gray gunmetal. Stock is sound and smooth with later varnish, lovely grain and color.
