^Lot 415 Mitchell's Mausers Kar98k Bolt Action Rifle

Mitchell's Mausers Kar98k Bolt Action Rifle, #8816M, 8x57mm, 23.62" barrel, blackened finish, laminated stock set with cupped buttplate, inverted "V" front sight with attached hood and adjustable tangent rear sight. A very good condition three-cell black leather pouch marked "0/0585/0035", cleaning cord, and owner's manual are included. Marked on top of receiver ring with a waffenampt stamp over "dou 43", along with a stamped asterisk symbol. Left side receiver rail marked "Mod.98". There are intact "(eagle)/(swastika)" stamps on the left side of the receiver ring and barrel, and 3 faint stamps on right-side buttstock. Matching numbers have been recently applied to the bolt handle, trigger guard/floorplate, and left-side buttstock. Condition overall is very good as reconditioned, with the metal retaining over 95% of the dark refinish, which was applied over old frosting on the receiver and barrel. Bolt assembly has been polished bright. There is a spliced repair to the top of the hand guard. Wood has been sanded smooth, now very good, with darkening around the receiver. Action operates smoothly; bore has light frosting forward of the chamber, otherwise very good with very good rifling. Import stamped on left side of barrel. Est.: $600-$800. (C&R)
