Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine, Possibly Indian Decorated, #124388, .44 W.C.F. (.44-40) cal., 20" barrel with standard sights and markings, receiver with saddle ring/stud at left, walnut forend is bordered with 20-7/16" brass tacks, buttstock has 6-9/16" domed brass tacks either side and wrapped rawhide reinforcement at wrist. Mfg'd 1899. Condition is good retaining no original finishes, being generally lightly-oxidized gray gunmetal showing scattered peppering, good edges and markings. Stocks are sound showing light marks, 1.5" cracks emanating from buttplate each side, and a half-inch chip at top. Tacks appear old but were not removed to verify age. Action is crisp, bright bore shows overall frosting. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (C&R)
