Lot of Two (2) German Dress Bayonets, with Frogs: (1) WW1 era dress bayonet, 10" blade was originally a saw back but has had the saw teeth removed, early Eickhorn double squirrel maker's mark at ricasso, checkered horn riveted grips, nickel-plated cross guard and eagle head pommel with pushbutton. In black painted steel scabbard, with WWII k98 bayonet leather frog showing faint maker's mark and dated 1942. Blade shows age graying and light rust stains, flaking to the nickel plating on the guard and pommel, wear and minor chips to the grips. Scabbard shows scuffs, scratches, and losses to the painted finish; frog shows age, scratches, and light wear. (2) Early Nazi era dress bayonet with 8" nickel-plated blade, early oval Eickhorn squirrel logo, original leather blade washer, nickel-plated cross guard and eagle head pommel, missing the pushbutton retainer; checkered hard rubber riveted grips, black painted steel scabbard, leather WWII k98 bayonet leather frog with retaining strap, no markings. Blade is mostly bright with minor freckling, light wear, and runner marks. Cross guard and pommel show light scratches and minor bubbling to the nickel plating. Grips are very nice. Scabbard shows scratches and losses to the paint; frog shows soiling and wear, with some cracking to the leather and strap. Est.: $200-$400/Lot.
