^Lot 645 Commercial Webley Mark IV Double Action Revolver

Commercial Webley Mark IV Double Action Revolver, #84635, .45 ACP cal., 4" barrel, blued finish, black plastic checkered grips, blade front sight and fixed rear sight with "U" notch. Marked on left-side frame with "WEBLEY PATENTS" and the trademark "Winged Bullet W&S". Left-side barrel strap marked "MARK IV", and the left-side barrel is marked ".455/.476". Top of barrel strap is retailer engraved "W.JEFFERY & SON./12 GEORGE ST. PLYMOUTH". Rear of grip strap has owner-applied initials "C.F.B." Barrel stamped with matching numbers, cylinder not numbered. Revolver has been importer converted to .45 ACP caliber by machining off the rear of the cylinder. Front sight has been modified by cutting off the rear portion. Lanyard opening has a steel plug fitted, probably by the factory. Condition overall is good with the metal retaining approx. 60% finish, with old pitting around the muzzle, scattered frosting across the frame and barrel, and brown patina to the front and rear grip straps. Grips are very good showing a few scuffs and handling marks to the checkering. Action locks, cycles, and ejects smoothly; bore has areas of pitting with fair to good rifling; chambers have dark areas that may clean better, otherwise good. No visible import marks.
